After obeying the gospel, one might ask, “Okay, I’ve confessed Christ, I’ve been baptized. Now what?” This is the time that the church MUST jump in and begin nurturing the babe in Christ. With a proper diet of the “milk of the word”, along with encouragement, the new convert begins a journey of service, sacrifice, and character building.
When it comes to instruction on building the Christian character, there is no better guide than Romans Chapter 12:
Become a Living Sacrifice, Holy, Acceptable to God (v. 1)
Be Transformed by Renewing Your Mind (v. 2)
Don’t be Arrogant, Think Soberly (v. 3)
Use Your God Given Gifts (v. 4-8)
Love Without Hypocrisy (v. 9)
Despise All That is Evil, Hold on to Good Things (v. 9)
Be Devoted to Each Other with Brotherly Love (v. 10)
Give Preference to Each Other with Honor (v. 10)
Don’t be Lazy, be Enthusiastic While Serving the Lord (v. 11)
Rejoice in Hope, be Patient During Trouble (v. 12)
Continue Steadfastly in Prayer (v. 12)
Help Needy Brothers & Sisters, be Hospitable (v. 13)
Bless Those that Hurt You (v. 14)
Be of the Same Mind Toward Each Other, be Humble (v. 16)
Don’t be Vengeful, be Peaceable with All People (v. 17-20)
Don’t be Overcome with Evil, Overcome Evil with Good (v. 21)
