Kevin hails from a large family; born, bred and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of North Central WV. Kevin is married to Mary (Emerson) Lough formally of Clarksburg. Together they have two sons, and four grandsons. Kevin spent three years in construction, labor and plumbing before going to work for Dominion Gas. He held numerous positions at Dominion all the while pursuing greater knowledge of the Word of God through individual study. Kevin also studied at Fairmont State University and Ohio Valley University completing numerous ‘Advanced’ classes in Parkersburg. He began Sunset International Bible Institute in 1999 and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Bible. Kevin is a graduate of Light University after having obtained his certificate of achievement in counseling in 2019. Kevin walked away from his position at Dominion Gas in 2004 and became the pulpit minister for the Whitehall Church of Christ in Fairmont. Though he and Mary had done part-time work in ministry from the time they married in 1984, Kevin knew this is where God had called him for full-time work. The Whitehall Church of Christ has a full-time Nursery School for over 80 students, a MOMco ministry, a Senior’s ministry overseen by Kevin and an exciting annual Vacation Bible School directed by Kevin and his wife, Mary. In 1991, Kevin was diagnosed with testicular cancer. It was a diagnosis which helped bring him to the realization of life’s brevity. Walking away from a solid vocation with benefits to enter full-time ministry came easier after the experience of having cancer and realizing that life’s too short not to pursue your dreams. At age 40, Kevin says, “I finally realized what I wanted to be when I grew up. Twenty years later, God continues to bless and impress us with all the goodness He showers me and my family with day after day.”
Ben Phillips was born and reared in Statesville, North Carolina. He is married to the former Patricia Lewis, daughter of Greg and Pamela Lewis who work with the Hopkins Road Church of Christ in North Chesterfield, VA. Patricia and he have been married since 2003. They have been blessed with three children: Adah Corinne, Nolan Elijah, and Clara Abigail. He is a 2004 graduate of the Memphis School of Preaching where he received the Outstanding Student Award. He holds a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Amridge University with further graduate level work. He preaches for the Peninsula Church of Christ in Hampton, Virginia where he has been since June of 2004. Besides the Lord and his family, he enjoys Duke college basketball, sci-fi and fantasy (especially Star Wars and Lord of the Rings), Atlanta Braves baseball, and most things technology.
